ABOUT US

The International Students Office serves students from around the world who have decided to attend Lyon College. In particular, it serves to help our international students transition to the United States by guiding them through regulations requirements, providing them with support through a community of friends, and making them feel at home when they’re so far away from theirs.

OUR PROJECT

One of the ways in which the International Students Office makes Lyon’s international students feel more at home is by purchasing the flags of their home countries. These flags not only provide a beautiful visual display to all who see them at college events–they also fill our international students with the pride they have for their respective home countries.

We’re asking you to help. We want to purchase 7–10 flags to add to our existing collection. And with $2,500—our project goal—we can do just that! Lyon is a community, and every student is a vital member. When we celebrate our cultural diversity, we grow our community even more. 

WHY GIVE

Perhaps you were a community friend that hosted an international student. Perhaps you, yourself, were an international student that called Lyon home. Or perhaps you simply want to celebrate Lyon’s diverse cultures. Whatever the reason, your gift allows Lyon to welcome its international students to their second home. And those students give a lot of themselves to Lyon! They share with us their talents, their interests, and their customs. Purchasing these flags is a small way to welcome our students to this community and affirm that Lyon is their home away from home.
